Prop 1

This editorial is in response to Carolina Gomez's blog titled "We need Uber and Lyft". Me and many other residents have been left in a major dilemma with the recent events of the removal of Uber and Lyft in Austin, Tx. Uber and Lyft were most prestigious and innovative resource introduced to the public in the last decade, no questions asked. These flawless applications gave people the opportunity to receive a safe ride home with the click of a button.

Many residents of Austin, Tx are free of a vehicle wether it being the fact that the Austin streets can inject anxiety into a drivers bloodstream in the blink of an eye or just the inability to afford a car, many people are not presented with ability to drive themselves, Uber and Lyft gave them that option. These perfectly constructed applications also kept people from drinking and driving, well now you might say taxis do the same and how that might be true Uber and Lyft did it a whole lot better. The problem with taxis is they are flat out unreliable, every personal experience I've had with Taxis left me questioning ever using one again. Taxi's more often than not do not show up on time or even show up for that matter, I say this because in the last 2 weeks I've called for 5 Taxi's and had only 1 actually show up. Over my numerous encounters with Uber I have never had 1 problem. Uber and Lyft allowed you spectate the driver while on route, this was extremely beneficial because it gave you the time upon arrival and option to contact the driver if needed. Uber and Lyft drivers were easy to contact if anything was ever left in their car after being transported, might I add that they were significantly cheaper to the consumer.

These applications have kept people from drinking and driving, they have efficiently and conveniently transported people, you now know why we need Uber an Lyft to return to Austin, Tx let's make it happen.

The Next President

It's been an underwhelming yet overwhelming election if you ask me, wether it's the childish like behavior performed by Trump or the outlandish contradicting statements by Hillary, it all amuses with disgust. It's quite terrifying that one of these candidates will soon run our country, I for one will not be voting this election. People continue to ask me how I could go without voting, well its simple, you see voting is defined as the formal indication of choice, CHOICE. Voting is strictly acted on personal opinion, it's quite saddening that my first opportunity legally eligible to vote I will not be participating due to no personal attraction to candidates. Each and every previous election I have had interest in a candidate wether it being the honesty in their voice or their personal plan to better our country, this year I sadly do not feel the same way.

Would It really help the economy?

This blog post is for the sole purpose of arguing against Carolina Gomez blog titled "Legalized weed helps the economy"(http://wethepeopleofus.blogspot.com/2016/04/legalized-marijuana-helps-economy_1.html)  I have some arguments with some of the statements made in this blog, for starters she states "Marijuana is use as medicine to help treat and prevent illnesses" well that's not quite right is it? You see medicinal marijuana in no legitimate way cures illnesses nor treats them for that matter. Medicinal marijuana can be used by a patient in numerous circumstances but generally speaking the consumer typically resorts to medical marijuana as a pain reliever, of course there are other benefits such as a sleeping aid, muscle relaxant etc. but what is similar in all of these cases is the fact that there is no treatment to the illness itself, the herb is simply nothing more than a small distraction. Another problem with marijuana being legalized is that with this gateway drug being legal children would come to conclusion that this nationally accepted drug is a positive substance its just a matter of being the legal age to consume it. You may think this is not a big deal but in reality when we make marijuana an easily acquirable item it will inevitably be consumed by minors, yes of course there will be ID verification when purchasing but just like alcohol and tobacco there are many other ways to go about getting passed this "impossible age verification step". What we also have to worry about is we will be opening the doors of access to distribution, if America believes there won't be scumbags purchasing marijuana from dispensaries and reselling to minors or the general public then I worry for this country. She states that we will close down the drug cartels by legalizing weed in america, well sadly thats completely incorrect because the cartels do distribute marijuana to the US they are also the MAIN distributers of cocaine, multiple methamphetamine's, heroin etc. With marijuana being legal we would create our own miniature cartels ran by our fellow americans here in the US. Not to mention how many violent and even deadly crimes are related to marijuana each and every year, do we also believe that legalizing marijuana will stop the crimes and murders involved with marijuana, NO it will not, if anything it could potentially amplify the situation due to the fact that there will be mass production nationwide.

Silly Trump

For several decades now immigration has been a ongoing problem in America, now with that being said, many have had proposal's to diminish immigration at whole. A new proposal recently became public that got an exponential amount of media attention, and who better to do so than Donald Trump. Ah, Donald Trump sadly today's man of the hour, some people love him, most people hate him and quite frankly i'm still left thinking how could you love that guy? Trump's proposal of immigration reformity to this day is the stupidest piece of material I have ever read. If you haven't read his plan here is a quick little recap, have you ever seen a child's writing homework? If so you know it's merely just a piece of paper with doodles and has no literature that actually makes sense, yea that's what Donald's plan looks like. He states that Mexico will pay for the Southern wall because they have "cheated us" and owe America money. Well sadly that isnt how anything works, you cant just throw unwanted items at people and expect them to pay for it. Trump also mentions that illegal aliens have commited tragic crimes to american citizens, now while that might be true has he not recognized the fact that american citizens commit unlawful crimes against each other. According to Trump's Immigration reform article Immigrators have been invloved in tens of thousands of rape, homicide and violent beating crimes if that is true, at most that could only account for a fraction of the same crimes, in 2014 the FBI released information stating there were over 1.1 million violent crimes ( Murder, aggrevated assaut, rape etc.) reported by law enforcement. Trump's wall has also skyrocketed in cost, he first claimed he could build the wall for 4 billion which soon rose to 25 billion after calculations were made. Not to mention that maintenence cost will exceed initial costs in just 7 years. The current Mexico Treasurer Secretary also said "Mexico under no circumstance, is going to pay for the wall Mr. Trump is proposing". Now lets talk about how effective the wall would actually be. Trump says the wall will continue to grow if Mexico doesn't agree to pay for it, increasing the size to only creates a market for a larger ladder. Trump also on live television stated "there is no ladder going over that, if they ever get up there they're in trouble cause there is no way to get down, maybe a rope" yes exactly, maybe a rope. Trump stumbled his way into a key realization that his wall proposal could be defeated by one of mankinds first inventions, a rope!

The Government's leash on innovation

John Stossel recently published an article that literally had me award him a standing ovation after I finished his reading his work. The article speaks about our Government pinning and strangling inovation with its bare hands. I believe practically anyone with interest in current events can read this article and be extremely entertained all the way through.

John mentions how the government constantly invests time and money into robots, radar guns, etc. but when the public use the same inovative technology the government is eager to put rules into place before things get "out of control". I applaud John for this following statement "Every time there’s a new invention, some people lose jobs, and there’s a period of adjustment. But we come out ahead. You don’t believe employment recovers? Remember that 200 years ago, 90 percent of Americans worked on farms. Now fewer than 2 percent do. But that doesn’t mean that 90 percent of the population has been left unemployed." clearly innovative work progresses every aspect of human nature. Of course new innovative solutions maybe difficult to adjust to at first but what isnt!? New equipment/ways can be hard to adapt to but more often than not once you configure the matter out and understand how helpful, convenient, effective it is you tend to abuse the use of it because the item can be that good! I encourage all readers to check out Stossel's "Why is our government so determined to strangle innovation?" ( http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2016/03/02/stossel-why-is-our-government-so-determined-to-strangle-innovation.html ) it will open your eyes to the government abusive power in regards to America pushing forward. Imagine what America could become with no restrictions to postive innovation.

Privacy Please

To some a cellphone is just an efficient device that can be supplemental for communication in one's everyday life, for others a cellphone can be a lot more than a networking tool. In today's society many people would agree that their phones are for their personal use only and can contain very exclusive and personal information. There was an article by David Lazarus that had an unbiased opinion showing many valid examples of why and why not apple should unlock a phone that could potentially help the government gain knowledge about a terrorist group. The Government and FBI have consistently been harassing companies over the years by controlling their moves and practically shaping their actions.

David's article concludes with him siding with the government, which in my opinion is nor right or wrong. I am firm supporter of privacy protection but, I do believe American lives should be protected in any circumstance, with that being said I believe the government should have the power to go to ANY extent to do so. Could you imagine if another tragic attack was targeted at America by terrorists   and many american lives were compromised by the attack only to later find out information about the attack was encrypted on the phone. More often than not I would side with privacy protection but in a circumstance that could potentially put american lives at danger I am all for interrupting privacy to better our safety. Hack the phone apple, American safety begs you to.

Hillary's Secret Files

I recently read an article from the NYtimes titled "More Hillary Clinton emails released, including 3 now "secret"" and it sincerely grabbed my attention. The article was about a batch of Hillary Clintons emails be released by the State Department, with some of the emails being "Secret" it brought some concerns to the public. There were 81 other emails classified as "confidential" these emails included a chain of messages forwarding an article from The Telegraph, a newspaper in Britain, detailing remarks from John Sawers, then the chief of that country’s intelligence service, MI6, about efforts to foil Iran’s nuclear weapons program. "Most unfortunate on many levels to say the least,” the State Department’s chief negotiator on Iran’s program, Wendy R. Sherman, wrote in remarks that were not redacted. Mrs. Clinton replied to the last forward, “Gobsmacking!” The state department has been consistently releasing this information under the Freedom of Information Act. The public has been stressing about these classified emails due to the fact that they are so uninformed and worried about what the emails could contain. I personally do not feel comfortable voting for someone that is hiding such classified information from the public.
